• Remote Coaching

When acquiring new skills and building capacities, learners benefit from having a supportive advocate that listens and provides guidance to help them remove the roadblocks on their learning pathway. Maker Educators may struggle with planning, finding methods of integration, or providing differentiation options for advanced students.

The Remote Maker Coaching service provides one-on-one, educator-centered coaching sessions in 1 hour blocks. In these sessions, a Maker Coach works with an educator to support them in becoming more self-directed in the ways that they plan to integrate Making for student learning. This support may take the form of building confidence, increasing craftsmanship, technical problem resolving, reflective conversation, planning and other forms based on the professional learning goals of the educator.

    Empowered Learners

The focus of remote coaching is always the learner with the primary goal of empowerment and self-direction. The expert spends time on empathizing and addressing their needs in their context rather than delivering something that is ready-made.

    Ongoing Professional Learning

This service supports educators in their ongoing professional learning. The coaching can take the form of integration assistance, project troubleshooting, collaborative Making, or other common roadblocks.

    Providing this Service

This service is initiated by a host school or institution that has completed the Maker Educator Certificate program.
